SolidWize – Online SolidWorks Training

Sign up, pay for a subscription, and watch training videos on how to do Solidworks. I'm mostly better at Proe so sometimes I think about making a Proe Training website. So what do I have to know to make such a website?

I'm currently self training on PHP. Is using PHP with MySql the best technique?

PHP and MySql are just the back end the customer or browser never sees, technically speaking you don't need either to create that page but as practical matter being able to program and use a database makes life a whole lot easier especially if you're managing a very large site.

You need HTML and CSS to create the front end and perhaps some JS and image editing capabilities if you want to get specific. There is pile of skills that go into to creating a good website and what those skills are vary.

For the back end if you don't have a lot of programming skills but you have familiarity with PHP and MySQL, you could take a look at using Wordpress with a membership plugin like Wishlist Member which integrates easily with PayPal and other payment processors and lets you secure your content and even drip it out sequentially like you're describing. The back end of your website can be set up very quickly using those tools and then for the front end you could use an existing Wordpress theme or if you are comfortable with HTML and CSS like thecoalman said you could make your own theme.

Also having alot of traffic and many posters that create new threads that bring people to the site or engage them to get people to join and post but also Retain members or the till up but dead Non-C&D Automotive Forum had a lot of active posters years ago but it is about the size of C&D.

But now no one posts or no one replies to threads but Cars are only one topic and C&D has many Sub -Forums that cover everything but the politics and controversy sub forum has to be the most active and the other more serious Sub-Forums are filled with informative and helpful people and lots of old and new threads about everything.

To Create a C&D size forum it would have to have years of threads and get over a Million Registered users and still be able to get new people to vist the site but C&D has a lot of people that work behind the Scenes and Maintain, Upgrade and Moderate but it also the site Generate revenue and what make C&D the site even better IMO is they also give back to the Regular people and have a community.
