I went looking again for an AV for WHS 2011 and found this.

Free Antivirus Software - Download Bitdefender Antivirus Free

Installed and ran a preliminary scan. Very nice.

Been looking for something to replace MSE until it's back up to snuff, think I'll give this a shot. Pretty decent rankings at AV Test.

Well, the search continues, Bitdefender will not install with Malwarebytes installed. Have to remove it, install BD, reinstall MWB, and set some exclusions, I'll pass.

It's not an antivirus solution, it's designed to be used alongside your preferred AV app.

Looks like I'll stick with MSE for now, not giving up MWB. I could probably get by without AV at all, did it for years, but why push my luck.

I wish someone had the definitive answer: what to absolutely/postively install as far as: firewall, A/V, anti-spyware, etc. - especially for those of us that don't understand it so much.

There is no definitive answer, me for example, I could get by with nothing at all, but I know people that no matter what they're running they manage to infect their computers. Safe hex goes a long way.

My complete solution consists of MSE, MWB, OpenDNS, DNTP, and a custom hosts file.

You'll never see a 100% solution, witness McAfee.

At one time they were numero uno in the AV field.... Then the bean counters took control of the purse strings of the company, they diversified, spread themselves too thin and now look at them. A has-been company with a substandard product....

That plus the fact I don't think there is one company on the face of this Earth that would dedicate the enormous resources required to:

1. Put out such a product as you wish
2. Have the resources and R&D budget to keep up with the threat environment
