have an old Mid gaming tower that just really needs a new MOBO and CPU/GPU/Memeory upgrade but since I want to try something different than just doing my normal Intel I-7 buildsand do a decent Mid-Range AMD Entertainment PC for under $1200 that I can mod out a bit later what do you think about this setup so far?

MOBO: ASUS SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0 AM3+ AMD 990FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS

CPU: AMD FX-8350 Vishera 4.0GHz (4.2GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 125W Eight-Core Desktop Processor

Video Card/GPU: GTX 680

Memory: CORSAIR DOMINATOR 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory

CPU Coooler: Thermaltake WATER2.0 Pro Closed-Loop All In One Liquid CPU Cooler Dual 120mm PWM Fans 120x49mm Radiator

No one has any thoughts on AMD's FX-8 Series processors?

Can't say I do. I haven't looked back at AMD since buying an Opetron 939 way back. I really have no idea where they are at anymore. Any particular reason why you want to go with AMD other than a change up? Also, 16GB is somewhat overkill for gaming, but hey if you want it, knock yourself out . Doesn't hurt either.

That's the CPU that I used for the PC that I built for my teenage kids. While an i7 might give you better performance, you really can't beat an AMD for performance/price. My kid's rig has a 550Ti and it plays COD:MW3 at max settings without a hiccup. BF3 plays excellent at high settings, but has a very slight lag at Ultra settings. You shouldn't have that problem, though, with a GTX 680.

What Trucker said. Recroom PC is a heavily rebuilt AMD, and while it was all done for a very reasonable $$, it's not 100% comparable to an i7. FWIW, some games seem to test the graphics card, others rely on the chipset. Doing it again I'd meet halfway - less $$ on the card, more $$ elsewhere, but in this case (like the OP) I already had a case/PSU/HDD/RAM.

Thanks will let you know how the build goes since it is for a Co-Worker/Friend that wanted a Mid-High Do-it all Home Entertainment and Gaming PC and said they wanted to keep it under $1200.

For this new Build I thought why not try the AMD CPU line up and AM3+ Socket MOBO...I just thought I would ask here first on what people think of AMD's latest processors.

Thanks posting back so fast

Will do my first AMD build in 6 years so hope it turns our great and the friend I am building it for is more than happy with it also...

It seems to be going together pretty smooth so far and should be done by Sunday if everything goes right

The worst part of my build so far was my Co-Worker having to have "No matter the cost" was a GTX 680 when I told him to save the extra money and go for the GeForce GTX 670 VideoCard instead but hey it it their build and I am just building it for him.
