That sounds pretty cool! Where do you order the parts?

I just never thought RAM or the clips were sharp. Maybe I have tough skin.

You might want to start off with an easier project first: Minds | Freedom To Share | School Girls In Africa Developed A Generator Powered By Urine

Really? I've been seeing them for years @ every price point - as a matter of fact I was just commenting on that @ Costco the other day, as the entire row (HP, Dell, Sony) had 'em. I guess it's hit or miss...

I see a lot of Dells and don't see any warranty voiding stickers over the access panels.

Who do they think they are?? Apple?? Actually never mind, Macs don't use stickers, they use mechanical locks to prevent their customers from tinkering.

Honestly, though, I can't blame ASUS for doing something like this. Why should they uphold their warranty if some moron decided to walk around on a shag carpet for 20 minutes and zap the processor? Also, when you allow customers into the computer, you're inevitably going to get tech support calls about everything and anything. Imagine the unnecessary overhead they would spend trying to deal with people who don't know what PCI looks like, or how electricity works.

At least they are not charging you money before they even consider answering a simple question *cough* AppleCare *cough* There is one universal truth about consumers: they are morons. Then when they screw something up, they will come after the company for compensation and/or replacements. Allowing access for consumers is a no-win situation for companies. If you want to tinker and upgrade, build your own or void the warranty. It's that simple.

LOL. You guys must be forgetting the old CPU Heatsinks. Use a flat blade, and press down extremely hard to get that other rocker spring down, but be sure not to slip and crack the pcb, or your knuckle on a capacitor
