I was thinking about upgrading my Office Pro 2003, but think I will wait until they do not support it at all in 2014.
They don't much care how many computers I have it on anymore.

Unless I get a wild hair and buy 2010 first, while it is still available.

With Office 365 you can install it on up to 5 computers.

I bought Office Pro 2013 and tried to download it onto my Windows 8 computer. It downloaded and worked fine for two days, then....poof....couldn't get into it and I spent hours of frustration with MS people and quite frankly, they don't know how to fix it themselves either. It's a nightmare. Looks like Windows 8 and Office 2013 aren't compatible at all...fortunately I only paid $10 for Office 2013 so I'm not out any serious money. I'm trying to get them to resend the download to me so I can try again.

Of course they're compatible. You just have some weird issue on your computer that needs to be figured out and resolved.

Thanks.

Just registered for a 3 month trial of Small Business Office 365.

It appears I will have to keep my 2003 or make a purchase to have Publisher.

Yep. and ONLY $100/year! Every year. For the rest of your life!

No way I am paying annually for the right to use your software for my very casual home use.

You aren't committed for life. You only pay for the years in which you want to use the software. $100/year for 5 licenses isn't expensive.

Also, it's not my software.

O come on NJBest. I didn't mean YOURS, I was referring to MS...

Again, $100 per year... o sure I can cancel at any time... or I can use LibreOffice and not pay a dime. Or I can buy a copy of 2010 for $120 and keep it for the next 5 years. At least.

I think a lot of people are going to be turned off by the "pay every year" plan.

If there were useful new features every year, maybe I could justify it. But paying $100/yr and getting a new version every 3 years just doesn't seem right. Companies aren't pushing subscriptions because they're better for customers than the current system.
