I have Windows Defender on my small lap top. I just tried to save and run Microsoft Security Essentials and I got this popup:
You don't need to install Microsoft Security Essentials. Your version of Window includes and updated version of Window Defender that provides the same level of protection as Microsoft Security Essentials, along with other significant improvements.
I called my home PC guy and he told me that Windows defender really isn't a virus protection like Microsoft Security Essentials. I am all confused now and I don't want to call him a 3rd time (in a row).
What do I do~? He sells Normal Virus Protection, which I have never heard of. Has anyone here~? Anyways, I got an email from someone I know which was spam and notified her about it. She told me I have to change my info, but my PC guy told me she needs to change her password. So, I got worried that I need a paid virus protection. He told me that a paid one would give me more protection. What do I do~? Should I pay for the ad-ware, I just have the free one on my desktop~? Also on my desk top is Spy Bot & Malwarebytes.
I've never heard of Normal Virus Protection. I've heard of Norman Antivirus but I've never seen it on anyone's machine and really cared enough to research it. Must be a 0.001% player.

Yeah, it's a virus protection like Norton's, but called Norman. I've never heard of it either.
Sounds like one of the 67,752,884 scams I've seen. The names all become a blur after a while.
So there are many out there, you mean~? I just thought I'd do one of them that my home PC guy installed on my desktop. Apparently it isn't the right one cause not only is it paid I'm finding out, but says I have 682 issues on my lap top. How can that be when it's only a couple months old. I don't go where I shouldn't go, but maybe that email did something to me~?
Who is telling you there's 682 issues on your PC? The typical MO for garbage software is to say you have tons of problems which they can fix, for a fee of course. There's literally thousands of such scams.

That adware site which is called speedypro. I just uninstalled it due to asking for $.

Adware is a generic term for software that bombards you with ads once installed. Speedypro sounds like something I'd remove if I found it on someone's system.

My home PC guy installed Adware on my desktop, but when I searched on my lap top to install, I came up with SpeedyPro, which I installed and then uninstalled. I may have something on my lap top since I clicked on my friends email that she didn't send out. I am worried of what to do, or if I should do anything~?
I don't know of any program called Adware. That would be like asking about a car named sedan. Its a generic term. In the early days of adware/spyware there was a program called Ad Aware that I used to use to remove junk. I haven't used it in probably close to 10 years though. I know its still around but I have no idea if its effective. MalwareBytes Anti-Malware is my first tool of choice today. If you opened your friend's email but didn't click any links or open any attachments, you probably didn't get infected but there's a chance you did.
