I uninstalled MaAfee and downloaded Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) to update my Window XP. After it was done, I tried to remove MSE and reinstalled the McAfee. However, some people said there is no need to do that because MSE is better than McAfee.

Is that true? Which one I should go with, Microsoft Security Essentials Or McAfee? Or should I install both of them (I doubt it will work as they might not be compatable with each other)?

I would rather use NO antivirus than subject myself to McAfee. Whatever you do, do not use two antivirus products at once.

Neither McAfee nor MSE stand out as being exceptionally great. MSE wins for being very simple to use and pretty streamlined, however. For free, I'd use either AVG or Avast myself.

I encountered a heap of issues last year while using MSE on both my PC and laptop...

I've since switched to AVG, with no problems.

I used AVG for years. I got tired of periodic notices that I needed to update the program. Now, with MSE, the updates happen at night and I never have to do anything. I've had MSE on all our computers (9 total) for over 3 years with no problems.

Yeah, back when I used to install AVG for people, they'd invariably call me a year later and SWEAR that there's no more free version and they had to pay for the security suite.

I think you took the words out of my mouth. I was going to post about not using McAfee but you beat me to it. I'm very anti-Nortons also.
