From that page

"So the rebate in question is on the software, not the drive. And according to the terms on the rebate form, this hard drive wouldn't appear to be a qualifying product."

No, not after rebate. Again, didn't you read the article? I'm guessing no.

OK, whoa, lots of confusion here. So the rebate in question is on the software, not the drive. And according to the terms on the rebate form, this hard drive wouldn't appear to be a qualifying product. I chatted online with a TigerDirect rep who was unable to clarify this. What's more, although I believe that the software includes a one-year subscription, some users have reported that it costs $80 to activate it. I've found no evidence of this, but the bigger issue is whether the drive qualifies for the rebate. Until I can find out for sure, I recommend steering clear of this deal.
For the love of Pete...

Online search @ RS finds nothing. I'll wager if you don't live close to the right RS you won't find one of those.

Nice try, but I post items available to everyone, not some lucky few who happen to be in the right place at the right time.

Not me. I'd rather have two 4TB drives. More space, less power consumption.

Hey thanks again for the heads-up on that drive. I was looking for a 2 TB to store video on, and for the same money I will be getting 4TB!

I couldn't rep you but still wanted to voice my appreciation in form of a post!

No East Coast? I thought you were in NJ for some reason...I guess my mind is playing tricks on me again!

Here you go for $10 more at Amazon for 159.99. Rip it out of its case to make it an internal if needed.

Appreciate the thought. I'm never sure if I should post one of these because it always turns into, well, what this one did. I've still got someone trying to outdo the deal I found.

I'd post a lot more of them if it didn't always turn into such a mess.

Never been to NJ. Iowa here.
