Need some assistance on Macbook Pro (server, how to, Windows, software)

Version 10.6.8

I'm trying to set it up as a syslog server and my head is flat banging it against the wall.

Been to the Apple support forums, Google search. There are a few articles but turn out worthless.

Found one, says to modify the /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.syslogd.plist file which turns out to be a binary file....

No idea how, but I see a lot of articles on how to accomplish such:

I saw those, I don't want to capture logs from an Airport Extreme but from my routers.
