I believe in getting the best brand possible and wondering what brand laptop should I get? I do know to stay away from Acer Laptops.

If you're a Windows use and want a solid laptop, look into ThinkPads. More specifically, the T, W,X series and the Helix.

The name of the brand is called "ThinkPads"?

I did warranty repair work for laptops at my first IT job. Toshiba makes quality business line models and Asus also makes nice stuff.

ThinkPad is a brand of laptops originally made by IBM. They are now made by Lenovo.

ThinkPad Laptop PCs | ThinkPad Professional Business Computers | Lenovo (US)

They're popular in corporate use due to their high quality builds and exceptional US-based IBM customer service.

If you want a good quality laptop there are options relating to brands (Apple or numerous PC). Regardless, if you want good quality it will cost you more. The best quality PC laptops are similarly priced as the Apple MacBook Pro.

However, there is another option: good value without going overboard

Yeah I would be prepared since you have to put out the money for something you use everyday.

You will notice that in the PC magazine article (link above), the price started coming up toward $1,000 by the end of the list. I have heard lots of good comments about Lenovo (?) laptops around $500.00 and up, but I have no idea how good they are. I have a MacBook Pro for the past three years that has been quite reliable.

Just wait and see what other posters have to say about Lenovo and other brands' laptops. You will get a lot of good answers in this forum.

In my opinion nothing beats HP. Of all the laptops I have owned (6 or 7 of them) the HP was the best and the Acer was the worst.
