Just got back from my 10 day vacation to Israel, got a Tigerdirect email and there it was: new Geforce 770 and 780 video cards, and a new line of AMD and Intel Haswell Cpus. I'm still happy with my 2 years old i7 2600K Geforce 570 HD computer, but right now I'm in CC debt so I can't buy that $649 Geforce 780 from Newegg.

I told people in the past wanting a desktop to wait, so the time has come now to build one.

See:
CPU Processors, Intel CPU, AMD Processors - Newegg.com
PassMark Intel vs AMD CPU Benchmarks - High End

Haswell is just slightly faster and lower power than my good enough i7 2600K, not gonna upgrade now, but when I get out of debt I might get a 780 with more than 3GB of memory if they make that later on. Might take me 4 months of waiting.

LOL, the irony.... most people like you are in CC debt becsue you can't afford be buying things like a Geforce 780 for $649 in the first place.

Besides that you have to be nuts, it will be $300 a year from now and $100 2 years from now.

Somebody has to make the early financial sacrifices so the laggards can buy stuff at reasonable prices...

I got into CC debt for the first time because Discover gave me 1.9 APR for Nov to June. So I got into $3K debt that I was supposed to get rid of but I kept buying other stuff as the months went buy.

I get $1154 monthly SSDI so that's my budget. My Geforce 570 is 2 years old by now but it's 24 fps slow in Euro Truck Simulator 2 at 1920 x 1200 resolution.

If I get a 780 I also have to upgrade my 550W Platinum P.S..

It's called a loss leader, it's bait so people do what you did. What are they charging APR now, 12%? That's $360 annually, you could buy a decent but not over the top computer every three three years....

I think you need to be practical about things, I rook a hit on my latest build on the mobo BUT I have onboard SATA3 and onboard USB3. Those are going to serve me well.

A Geforce 550 is way weaker than my 2 year old 570. I could still get by with the 570 as it plays some games well at 2560 x 1600, but I'm a heavy gamer so a great video card is a priority. I also need the best affordable v.c. so I can play more games at 2560 x 1600 resolution.

I'm not impressed with Haswell. If Intel comes out with an 8 core CPU with double the passmark of my i7 2600K CPU I'd upgrade.

Did you put that 10 day vacation to Israel on the Discover card, too?

Dude, instead of dedicating your time into finding job, you add on a $3000 and going on a 10-day vacation when you are getting $1154 /month from SSDI? And worse, have the nerve to mention all this on a public forum like people will understand and not get mad at your "still living in lala land" behind?

I am trying to be nice and not judge others but come on!

My Mom paid for the vacation, as she needed my help to go there.
