PLEASE speak non-tech to me! I currently have a Gateway (do they still make those?) that I have owned for 6? 7? years, maybe it's older? I had to replace the hard drive a year ago, and buy a new cord to plug it in. Now the plug is loose inside, and I can't move it or it won't charge. Time to bite the bullet and buy a new one.

I have an ipad, ipod and iphone, but I get easily frustrated with anything apple - (I'm not intuitive) so NO macbooks. I'd like a laptop that has a touch screen - they make them don't they? I use my current laptop for general use - email, bill paying. And hopefully would like to spend maybe $600-1000? Is that reasonable? I need some advice prior to walking into any store. Thanks!

Your question is too broad and can be answered by Googling "laptop buying guide" and reading through an article or two. Come back with more specific questions.
