Is it possible to wipe off Vista and put on Win95/98? I have a laptop that runs like crap because of Vista so I want to put on an older version so I can put on old games that we had and just use it for that. I keep reading that it's a bad idea to downgrade, but I'm willing to risk it.. I already did a system reboot which just reinstalled Vista. It just keeps freezing up and stuff. Not enough RAM and stuff to work Vista properly (despite where I got it from saying it was enough).

My main issue is that the older versions need DOS and not the NT-Windows (or whatever it said it was).

Please I need your help... (I really want to play those old games lol)

The short answer, with no info at all on the computer in question, is maybe, you'd have to research driver availability for the computers hardware. However, if you did a factory recovery and it's still freezing you likely have a hardware problem.

For older games on newer operating systems take a look at DOSBox, an x86 emulator with DOS

So go here Software & Driver Downloads Compaq Presario V6000T CTO Notebook PC | HP® Support

There's a list of all of the hardware drivers for Windows XP, you'll have to search the web for Windows 9x drivers for that laptops hardware.
