Yes, just get a regular MP3 player. So much easier. No syncing. Just copy and play.

Or, download and install itunes, erase the ipod, and sync your new stuff to the newly erased ipod.
You forgot the option of transferring the files from the computer over to the computer the ipod syncs with, and transferring them to the ipod from there.

Since the iPod was bought through Craigslist I doubt the other computer is available to the OP.

Never mind. I saw where she moved the files between computers.

Apple says you can on the download page.

Windows System Requirements

  • PC with a 1GHz Intel or AMD processor and 512MB of RAM
  • Windows XP Service Pack 2 or later, 32-bit editions of Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
  • 64-bit editions of Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8 require the iTunes 64-bit installer
  • 400MB of available disk space
  • Broadband Internet connection to use the iTunes Store
The page I linked to is the 64 bit version.

Ok well, I got a thumb drive, copied the files to that and then to my netbook which is what I orginally used the ipod with.
So I hooked in the ipod and now I'm stuck.
I don't see a way to drag and drop or upload? the folders with the wav files to the pod

Should I just give up and get a samsung player? Are they easier? Just lose the music I bought in itunes?

If the content was installed from the same iTunes account, it should already reside on the computer. If it doesn't reside on the computer or wasn't purchased by the iTunes account, Apple considers it illegal and it will be deleted on sync.

iPods don't support WAV files. If you own the CDs, just use iTunes to rip them into MP3 files or AAC and import them that way.

Honestly, it sounds like you need some very basic tutorials that are way beyond the scope of what you can expect to find in a forum like this. The information you need should mostly be linked on this page on the Apple support web site.

WAV files are an old audio format that takes up a lot of space and is relatively low quality. Windows computers were using them for alert sounds 20 years ago and better formats for music have been invented since then. Those are a few of the reasons Apple doesn't design iPods to support them.

I wonder if she would need to have a tutorial if she wasn't using an Apple product.

I've been using a PC forever.....I never should have bought an ipod. Its like a foreign language. I'm not sure I would understand Android better but if its more linear like MS probably.

So I finally got these copied over to itunes on my netbook. but now not sure how to get them to show up on the ipod?
