I went on line and bought a new desktop with windows 7. I like it.

I think you should consider 7 vs 8.1 instead of 8. 8.1 includes improvements.

Once you're at Desktop, Windows 8 is not all that different from Windows 7 -- minus the START orb.

Windows 8 & 8.1 (not yet RTM) - use the WIN + X keys to access CP items.
