I live in Michigan and use a motorola modem with my high speed internet from comcast. I am moving to Maine and wondered if I will need to get a new modem? I think I read somewhere that they were "location specific." Is this true?

Short answer: no, you don't need a new cable modem ... I'm pretty sure all Comcast-issued modems follow DOCSIS standard.
