I"m currently renting a room at another person's home. I have this weird problem. My Iphone can connect to their router just fine. It never, ever disconnects. My PC is like, hit or miss. Sometimes, it will stay connected for hours.. or days. Sometimes, it drops and I can't connect for days. Or it drops out for an hour, then good for 4 or 5 hours, then drops for 12 hours, etc. One of the weirdest problems I've ever seen. Maybe my modem was bad, I thought. But, I can't connect to the home router, but 1 second later, I can connect/switch to my Iphone or Blackberry hotspot? And stay connected forever... it never drops.

And my Iphone never drops. My computer will be unable to connect and I'm surfing on my phone with a solid wireless connection, to the router, just fine. I've tried deleting the network, flushing IP's, having the land lord reset the router, rebooting blah blah and I've had the same issue ongoing for 3 -4 weeks now.

Any ideas?

Oopsy. Picky, picky. u know what was meant and probably so did the OP. WIFI card or adapter since the OP hasn't stated if its a desktop or laptop.

Seems weird that It won't connect to the home router but when I hit connect with BB hotspot or Iphone hotspot, I don't have the same issue. It instantly connects. I"m surfing my Iphone right now.

Much shorter distance for signal to travel. IP being refreshed each time you connect to hotspot.

For S&G's I just connected the BB to the home network. In like 2 seconds, it connected. I did a little more digging and it seems my laptop is giving a security error when I try to connect. I wonder if the landlord blocked my MAC for some reason. Maybe I was using too much data...hrmm.. wonder if Comcast saw me watching movies and blocked me on the router side. I had that happen in a hotel, once. The hotel blocked me because I was watching movies.

Yeah, as mentioned above, but the router is asking me for a password within 2 sec of trying to connect. So I know I'm getting to the router, and I know it's trying to talk to the PC. And I have 2 devices that can connect to that router, Iphone and BB... so I know the correct password.

I did check for a updated driver for the wireless adapter and I have the latest and greatest. This really has me stumped.

Already had it, but sure. Running it now. How that might help me connect to a home router is suspect, but at this stage in the game, I'll give it a try.

I was kind of thinking something along these lines. Maybe my registry for that connection is messed up.
