I don't know what your goal here is. I never denied it... I'm just saying that it's not as common to see something like that. Either way it's still connected to the CPU..... good lord lol.

Just trying to educate a bit, and no, it is not connected at all to the CPU.

What we have here, is a failure to communicate.
OP, you can usually find a replacement parts list for your laptop make/model from the laptop manufacturer's website. Unless you really want to tear apart your laptop to look at the actual part itself, that is.
It is that laptop with the fan error, correct? Not a desktop?

No, it is a desk top. We did get what was on the fan itself but it didn't seem to be anything that would tell us exactly what to ask for at the shop. I was hoping I'd find more. If not, there are other ways. Thanks.

Ah ok, you posted about your laptop fan problem last week so I thought it was the same one.
What's the desktop make/model?

If I posted about "my laptop", I surely was out of it. I've never owned a laptop. I have a Dell Inspiron desk top.

Hazel, you still haven't even told us what exactly you're looking for or what you need it for..

Why are you trying to find a new fan for your CPU?

As was already stated, there's no reason to know the brand name of your fan.. it's pointless information.

If you look up, I already explained how you can find all hardware on your computer.

My CPU fan is failing. I get the message every few days. It takes it too long to start working and, when it does, it is making funny noises. Conclusion: Buy a new fan. As for what I'm looking for I am vague in my own mind but I thought there'd be some kind of ID number. From what you all have said, I conclude not. Beyond that, not much I can say - intelligently.

Easiest solution - unhook the old one, take it to your local computer store, buy a new one that's the same size with the same connector.
