I saw some news articles saying MS is stopping Windows 7 on home computers in Oct 2014. Why are they doing that, when they know perfectly well that people hate Windows 8?

Will stores like Best Buy continue to sell home computers with Windows 7 after that date? You could compare it with, when Vista came out, didn't most Best Buy computers just have Vista and not XP right away?

Looks like that's not the end date of Windows 7 at all. Will Windows 9 have the Metro interface?

Windows 9 won't be out till 2015, from what I have heard Microsoft realized (again) that they f'd up and the traditional desktop/start menu will be returning.

Let's hope they'll have a better functioning metro interface... or something different altogether and scrap this bipolar dual UI approach. We need something that gets away from the old crappy UI... but simply replacing it with another crappy UI won't do.

Sales may end but support for 7 is suppose to last through 2021.
