I've got a HP G56-129wm laptop. While the battery says it fits G56, it doesn't exactly list the rest of it. I am assuming that it will work, but I just want to make sure before I order it. My battery shows the part number is 586007-421 which is on the list of part numbers listed from the battery on amazon. It sounds simple enough, but I don't want to get a battery if it's not going to work for my laptop.

If the part number is listed as compatible we can only assume it will work as we have no more info on the product than you do. Amazon returns are easy if it doesn't.

Make sure whatever you buy won't interfere with opening the lid. I ordered a 9 cell off of ebay for my Toshiba U505- and I just went by part number (that matched). Yeah, I could put the battery on the machine, but it was too deep and I could not get the lid open. Wrong battery. I exchanged it for a 12 cell that is thicker and that doesn't extend out beyond the machine.

The round thing is the back of the battery, sticking out so far that it blocked the lid.

That is the kind of QC you get from ebay sellers.

Yeah, but that's the first one that's gone wrong. And it was rather amusing. I posted it on the Toshiba forum for a laugh.

I bought 9cell $25 batteries for my older L505 and A505 Toshiba Satellites, and they work great. I believe it makes no sense to buy a genuine Toshiba 12cell for $128 to put into an old laptop. If it's out of warranty, it gets aftermarket batteries from ebay.
