We did a study out of my university (Princeton) on the UX of Windows 8 during the preview period. It involved 1300 individuals ranging from college students to retirees. It included a combination of Windows and OSX users. The #1 complaint was about finding apps once you've switched to the desktop mode.

There's a reason why people had to write these up:

I don't have a problem finding apps with 8.1. I have my main apps on the taskbar on the desktop. Then I have apps that I do not use as often in the Metro screen tiled together. Its not hard to find new apps as they are installed. I could use the search feature but having a mouse connected makes moving back and forth between the Desktop view and the Metro view simple. It may not be for everyone but it works for me.

Seem ridiculous to me but I will believe your study. However posting these links:

...was beyond loame. It's the internet. There are articles about everything. I am sure there are tutorials about picking your nose.

But the bottom line is, the point you continue to beat into the ground that 8.1 was this groundbreaking change is just not remotely true.

Where did I say that 8.1 was a groundbreaking change? If you feel that is true, please point that out to me. To my knowledge, I've never said anything remotely close. I've just said it's a significant improvement over 8. Most of those improvements come from fixing mistakes that they made in 8 (or canceling steps backwards from previous versions of Windows).
