Do any of you know where I could find a laptop for a fairly decent (inexpensive price)? I am looking to buy one soon because my husband is deploying and will be taking ours with him for obvious reasons. They can be used or new, as long as in good, working condition. I only ask that it not be too expensive as we are trying to save as much as possible because we are expecting a baby in Feb. Is there anyone selling a laptop or know of anyone selling their laptop? Any help or information would be very appreciated. Thank you very much to all of you.

You might try the BestBuy store near you, or better yet ~ the commissary or post exchange on any military base or post should also have some good prices.

Well eBay would offer the best deals; but it can be a headache. If you want to go the retail route (security with warranty and someone to be accountable), I would suggest Tiger Direct. I got a laptop from them for $475 and I'm pretty pleased (using it now). Plus they have a huge selections.

If your husband is going to Iraq then my feeling is that you should contact your local VFW post and tell them your husband is going to Iraq and you are looking for a computer so you and him and stay in contact. They will find one for you- cheap if not free.

Interesting. I've purchased everything from little stuff (paperback books, buttons) to complete PC systems on eBay, and I've had no issues. The feedback system helps tremendously.

I visit the Computer and Networking discussion Group on eBay and there are stories there that will make your hair stand on end.

I advise anyone not familiar with purchasing on eBay to not buy computer equipment there.
