I don't have a DVD player or a DVD drive on my pc. I was wondering if I could kill two birds with one stone.
I've heard of chrome cast but not sure how it works. Is there any device that I can buy that will allow me to put a DVD disk into my computer and watch it on my tv?

If you have a HDMI output on your computer, just get a cable from Wal-Mart or someplace to hook them up.
If you have an older computer that only has an audio mini-jack and VGI video, you will need to go to a computer specialty store such as Fry's to get an HDMI converter.
Chromecast would not work directly--Chromecast allows you to stream from your wireless home network, so first you have to set up your network for streaming from your computer as a media source.
I don't believe your current drive (non DVD) will be able to read a DVD. This is both a firmware and hardware limitation......you can probably snag a DVD-drive pretty cheap.
1) Why do what to put a DVD in a computer far away from your TV, probably with no remote control too?
2) I use an old Playstation 2 to watch DVDs. I tried buying a couple of cheap ones, but they kept breaking.
3) Depending on your computer if you do buy a DVD player for your computer, you might need additional software to play a DVD movie.
I need a DVD player for both my pc and I currently don't have one for my tv either so I was hoping to get two birds with one stone. I don't want to buy 2 DVD players but it looks like I'll have to.
