Looking for the best deal currently on a Dell desktop for a parent who will mainly be web browsing and reading emails. Monitor is probably most important and needs to have Windows 7.

Any and all suggestions appreciated.

Most familiar with it; can you recommend something better?

I was in my local Office Depot the other day and they still had Dell Desktops with Windows 7 in stock.

Do they already come configured? I always thought it was cheaper buying directly from Dell?

I go through Fat Wallet when I buy Dells (several) they have coupon codes for Dells (from Fat Wallet to Dell site) plus if you sign up for Fat Wallet first and click through them, you get 4% cash back. Dell Coupons & Coupon Code Updated Daily in April of 2014

Laptop, Desktop, & Electronic Deals | Dell

also, I am a faithful customer of Newegg and here is a link to their Dell desktop prices Newegg.com - DELL/All Desktop PCs

If I were going to buy another desktop for an elderly person (me), I would get a cheaper Dell desktop model and get a good Samsung 21 inch monitor. I just like their monitors better. Right now I have a hand built Cyberpower PC and I am not impressed. I had to replace the motherboard and videocard already and have only had it 2 years. I would go back to Dell in a minute for something reliable. I know some people say the opposite, but I have always had good luck with Dells, both for myself and my sons. I also dont recommend HP desktops. Had two and they both died right after the warrantee ran out.

I am looking for a total system for around $500 and putting some extra money into the monitor for a 24" or so.

I priced out a Inspiron 3647, Windows® 7 Home Premium, 64Bit with Dell 24 monitor - E2414H for $517 which includes taxes and everything.

Sound like a decent deal?

Here is a really good deal on a dell 23 inch monitor (extra sharp) good for failing eyesight $170 Amazon.com: Dell UltraSharp U2312HM 23" IPS LED LCD Monitor - 16:9 - 8 ms: Computers & Accessories

Here is your tower for $319 Amazon.com: Dell Inspiron Desktop (i3647-1231BK): Computers & Accessories

Here is a Samsung 22 inch 1080 combo monitor and HDTV at $166 for comparison: Amazon.com: Samsung UN22F5000 22-Inch 1080p 60Hz Slim LED HDTV: Electronics

What do you think about this one: Dell Inspiron 3000 Desktop | Intel Pentium | Windows 7 Professional for $29 and then this 21.5" monitor Dell 21.5" Full HD LED Monitor [1920 x 1080] for $149

OR
