I am looking for a total system for around $500 and putting some extra money into the monitor for a 24" or so.
I priced out a Inspiron 3647, Windows® 7 Home Premium, 64Bit with Dell 24 monitor - E2414H for $517 which includes taxes and everything.
Sound like a decent deal?
Here's the manufacturer refurbished Inspiron 3647 with Win 7, 4GB and 500 GB HDD, without a monitor for $339.99. It includes Free Shipping. For what it's worth, I haven't been disappointed buying refurbished electronics on eBay yet.
how would that compare to the Dell model that I listed previously?

Thanks! Can you recommend any manufactured refurbished monitors on eBay...probably around a 22 or 23" should work more than fine?

OP-sorry I didnt get back here. The costco deals you mentioned are out of stock now. The Dell Monitor you mentioned looks like a winner unless you want something a tiny bit bigger or want a combo monitor and HDTV.
Just my opinion: I would never buy an HP desktop or monitor anymore. Also, I would be careful about buying online--you dont want to have to pay a restocking fee if you have to send it back. With Amazon you dont. Sometimes with NewEgg you dont. With Dell you dont.
