Not only did I install Mcafee I also installed a anti-virus program called "Avira" and since Saturday I have gotten 2 viruses. The first one was outfox.tv and tonight I get some pop up virus called Akamaihd

Anyone how is this possible if I already had two anti-virus installed?

Thanks

Default Surfing in all the wrong places

You surf in dangerous waters.

I haven't had malware in 10+ years.
And, I have no anti-virus software.
And, I surf to some "bad" places.

I go to all social media sites and sports sites. And I always been allergic to porn sites so that's why I can understand why it's happening

Those are not really viruses in the strictest sense of the word ... they're malware-- hijackers, redirectors.
You need to have anti-malware (Malwarebytes, for example) installed. I don't know why you have two AV's - McAfee and Avira.

I think I will uninstall McAfee.

Surprised you didn't have more problems with conflict running two virus programs.

McAfee is one of the worst antiviruses out there, and having two different AVs running at once is a bad idea from any standpoint, not only will you watch all your resources get munched, but then they fight each other.

As a side note, how is one allergic to porn, and what sort of allergic reaction does that come with?

Well, it's a strange sensation ... like you want to go pee but can't.

You should only have one anti virus program installed, that is inevitably going to cause issues if it doesn't already.

Everyone has covered the do's (have only 1 active AV program installed) and don'ts (don't use Mcrappy).

Having an AV installed is far from a guarantee that you won't get infected, that is more reliant on your surfing habits. Almost every infected computer I work on had current and up to date AV software on it when it got infected, so don't think you're immune, no matter what solution you use.
