Sometimes I try to stream a live newscast using the Chrome browser on my PC to my TV using Chromecast. The problem is the video becomes very slow and choppy, because the computer is trying to play the video on my monitor as well as stream it to the TV via Chromecast. Is there any way to get it to stop playing the video on the computer so that all resources can be used just for streaming? For example, if I use the HBO GO app on my tablet and play it through Chromecast, the video on my tablet stops and I only see it on the TV. Is this possible on a PC?
It should be possible if you're using Windows on the PC. I don't use the chromecast so I'm not sure if it works with that the way you're wanting it to work. I also do not think it will make a difference. The choppiness is due to the wireless connection, not the resource of the PC.

It's definitely not a wireless connection issue. I have a 50/50 connection and there is no choppiness when streaming from other devices.
The browser casting feature is not as good as it could be, but for now if you change the cast output to 480p it should get rid of the stutter. I know it may suck watching that on a big 60" TV or something but currently that's the only way I've found to get it to stop chopping up.

It's the connection between the PC and the TV, not the internet connection. I have a lot of experience with this using other devices like the Apple TV and projectors. The art of doing video from a PC through these devices hasn't been perfected yet. I believe the chrome cast feature is still in beta mode.
