I was using Firefox 23.0 for a long time and I tried to update today.
When I ran it, it displayed a window with the three standard buttons at the top but the rest was a black rectangle!
I uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled. Same problem.
I found a site called oldapps to redownload 23.0. When I tried, I got all kinds of garbage like 7-zip and a PC Optimizer, and no Firefox. I uninstalled all that junk and found a FF at Filehippo. That worked okay.
Do you know why the FF wouldn't work right? I have Windows 7 and all the latest.

The reason I tried to update FF was that the Gmail home page said it no longer supports this browser. Does that mean certain parts of Gmail won't work any more?
I also went to IE and the Gmail page also said something about not being supported any more. If I have to stop using FF and IE just becuase of Gmail I'm going to be mad.

To be exact, the message says "This version of Firefox is no longer supported" at the top of the Gmail page.

Is Google trying to scare us into using Chrome?

Have you tried Comodo?
They have Comodo dragon based on Google and also Comodo Ice dragon based on Firefox.
Also have one of the best firewalls, Internet security and anti virus programs you can find.

Go to https://www.comodo.com Look down on the left hand side and click on "Free Comodo Downloads"
Be sure to click on the Free Comodo Downloads and everything there is free....

I have used only Comodo for the past few years and I've never had a problem with it.
Comodo Ice Dragon is based on Firefox and Comodo Dragon is Google based.

Try it, I think you'll like it. If not you can also delete and try sometime else.
I also keep a downloaded copy of the install.exe file in my document folder just in case but have never needed to do a reinstall.

That's strange. It works fine on the most recent FF here. Are you still using an old version of FF?

That's what I was trying to do. Update to the latest one.

Someone on the mozilla forum said to open FF in safe mode and uncheck hardware acceleration.

So ... is FF working for you now? Do you have any weird browser extensions installed?
