Hi: Easy transfer won't work. I saved everything from the old computer (64 bit laptop) which is about to die and want to transfer all to new desktop 32 bit. Used a flashdrive to save. When I go to put flash files into new computer, its says "Cannot use easy transfer to move files from a 64 bit to a 32 bit computer".
The Staples guy said it would work. I can't even get the photos to transfer. Is there something I am not doing right? TIA
As the FAQ states, you cannot do what you're trying to do. A simple solution is just drag and drop the files you want to save to the thumb drive, then from the thumb drive to the new PC.
The new PC won't accept the files from the flashdrive. It won't even open them. I cannot get the stuff off the old computer (laptop) to the new desktop and it is really frustrating. Anyone??
Windows Easy Transfer can't transfer files from a 64-bit version of Windows to a 32-bit version of Windows. If you're transferring from a 64-bit version of Windows*Vista to a 32-bit version of Windows*7, you can move your files manually or use Backup and Restore in Windows*Vista. For more information, see Back up your files and Restore a backup created on a previous version of Windows on the Windows website. If you're transferring from a 64-bit version of Windows*XP, you'll need to move your files manually

You need to erase the thumb drive and start over, if you do it as I suggested above it will work, you just need to do it manually and not use the easy transfer wizard.
