So around this time last year, I was looking for a Desktop Computer, but I missed out on all the deals on Black Friday (BF). Afterwards I found that the prices on the HP All-in-One 23" Desktop were at least $100-$200 more expensive than on BF and I never found that good of a deal afterwards .

So this year I am on the lookout again to see if there is anything on sale on or around BF, that is just too good to pass up . Maybe there are others like me looking for that great deal ? I thought that this might be a good thread to post any fantastic deals you see that are just way too good to pass up on !!

You can check the store websites to see what they say. I know they are doing some sort of price matching this year. Personally I do not think it is worth it to give up Thanksgiving to stand in line for black friday as many people do when many of these so called great deals will be going on for Christmas sales as well. Okay maybe after you have had your dinner go ahead to the mall but not before and definitely don't bother camping out for it.

Staples.com is running their black Friday deals now and it appears they are giving 10% off to veterans too.

Another option that I have heard and read about but not tried personally is the paid auction . You pay to bid on an item and if you win you can get expensive items for 75% or more off retail. But its tricky since you pay for each bid and if you lose you are either out the money or have to pay for it at a retail price depending on the rules, but if you win you save an amazing amount of money but I would definitely say buyer beware on this.

Amazon usually has one of its best sales of the year on laptops about 2 weeks before Black Friday. Don't recall their deals including desktops in years past, but it's something to watch for between now and then.

Thumbs up Thanks for sharing everyone!

I just heard about this new app from the Wall Street Journal called Christmas Sales Tracker and it sounds exactly like what I am looking for -
New online tool tracks best Christmas savings on top gifts

The Wall Street Journal has come out with a new online tool this year that tracks the hottest sales for specific items.

After I've had a chance to check it out, I'll report back !

On another note, the TV reporter stated that the best day for in store deals is actually the Monday before Thanksgiving and that the best day for online shopping is Thanksgiving Day itself and not Cyber Monday. True or not, it's something for me and others to consider !

p.s.
I don't do the Black Friday standing in line or camping out stuff . YIKES! Did enough of that in my younger days and now I just try to get the best deal with the least amount of discomfort to my body and my wallet !

They say when it sounds too good to be true, BEWARE !!!

Well the 'concept' was good, but the very very limited amount of items that the CST tracks is useless. I was hoping that you could add to the list or make you own list of itmes to track, but I don't see that as an option unfortunately. I guess for now I will have to stick to the "deal" sites that Pruzhany mentioned above which I have also used in times past. If anyone hears of something like CST, but where you make your own list, please post it here !
