The keyword here is hobby. If you're doing graphics work as a profession, Mac is still the industry standard. Of course, many people spend enormous amounts of money on their hobbies. It depends on what you can afford.

The other posters have it right: spec-for-spec the cost differential is minimal. The question is: Do you want a professional level setup? If you do, I would go with a Mac.

What is the minimum requirement for screen resolution for graphic art ? And also what brightness level is acceptable ? That goes for windows or mac.
