I cover my camera up just in case.

If the past year has taught consumers anything, it’s that identity thieves, fraudsters and scammers are on the prowl, going after any information they can use to make a buck. But the intrusions don’t stop there.

If the thought of being the unwitting star of your own prime time reality show gives you the willies, consider the recent revelation that more than 73,000 unsecured webcams and surveillance cameras are, as I write this column, viewable on a Russian-based website.

I had a webcam, and heard about this a long time ago. I unplugged it and threw it in a drawer.

I just unplug mine when I am finished with it. Always have. Seemed to make sense to me.

Electrical tape. My case is black and you can't see the tape unless you look closely.

Anyone watching my webcam will see the very thrilling action of.... my totally amazing, smoke stained, yellowed, drop down tile ceiling. And the occasional middle finger when I'm feeling goofy.
