My beloved Dell Studio--I want to be buried with it
--no better laptop ever made anywhere--finally started showing signs of age this past summer.
I've replaced virtually everything on it over the years except the workhorse HD. This summer, what I *thought* was a cracked bezel led to me replacing the bezel with an aftermarket Ebay. It fit perfectly, but I was an idiot and did the replacement with the unit powered on, and arc'ed the screen. Yes, I'm an idiot, I know.
So I replaced the screen. The bezel just didn't seem to ever click back into place, however, which is when I noticed that the matte laptop lid was cracked. (I allege that cracks on glossy lids are less noticeable than on matte.)
Would someone who has replaced the keyboard and screen have a very hard time of replacing the lid? I don't like to open or close "Bessie," so I won't somehow arc the screen a second time (a very costly error). On the other hand, I just can't bring myself to install pricey new software I just got on another unit, and I can't figure out how I'll continue to use Bessie without being able to open and close it.
