Hi, I need to connect to a remote desktop server for work (rdp). I am on a Mac. I click on the file and it asks me what I want to open it with. What application should I choose? I tried a lot of them and it doesn't work. Thanks for any help.

You'll need an RDP client:

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/micr...15768417?mt=12

or

Download Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection Client for Mac 2.1.1 from Official Microsoft Download Center

should get you going.

You probably need a VPN connection, too.

Do you not have an IT Person at work?

The rdp file you have is not for the Mac, it is a configuration file for windows computer. It is not like a .doc file that you can open on any platform.
