CNet was founded in 1994 and is absolutely an industry standard. You guys crack me up. Anyway to back on topic MSE is a fine product, and I recommend it. It is the least intrusive anti-virus program out there and using it along with common sense and patching, the OP will be fine. I know Microsoft bashing is all the rage, and no one should ever use any of their products.

I'm out of this panel of "expert reviews"...

The best way is to use a trial version and see if justifies the price. I had a good/bad experience with pretty much any of top 10 antivirus companies. Usually bad customer service issues .Stumbled on Internet Security Software - Security Software Suite and so far (still on 15 day trial) no issues or hiccups (it's very silent in the background) . If works ill try to call 1800 number I believe this is an US company... must be able to negotiate the price

I would suggest you stumble off of PC Security Shield ASAP, if that's the one I think it is it's considered a rogue app, malware in other words. Their website is blacklisted by a number of security tools. Anyone would be ill advised to use it. For anyone else visiting this thread ignore 900rr's recommendation of this software.

I need to disagree with you Dave. I this based on your personal experience, someone you knew or just on reading online?

I had absolutely no problems. I used hijackthis to check for potential threats after installing PC sec. shield.and it show nothing but ordinary log. Installed trial on my old laptop (had free AVG) and worked perfectly. it gave me same detection as AVG. You made me curious so I call them yesterday and spoke with customer service ( 1-866-615-7443)... It's US based company in boca raton FL, talked to really pleasant customer service rep. They seem completely transparent, you can find a name of the owner and physical address online). They offering full money back guarantee within 30 days. I work in marketing for over a decade for fortune 500 company and I know from the first hand experience how dirty online reputation can be. Bigger companies can close smaller competition by attacking brand directly with fake reviews and some serious budgets are dedicated for this effort. I'll rather put my money back into US and help people here than some shady eastern european country business.
Just my 2 cents ...
