They cloned the hard drive. I took the memory sticks out to see if that's the problem, and I won't spend any more money on it.

Cloning the HD only copied the issues to the new HD. Do you feel confident enough to do what I suggested?

The warranty is only good on the work they did. If it requires a power supply then then will charge you for it and the labor to install it.

Do you still have the old hard drive? If Yes, then reconnect it and run the full HP restore (erases the hard drive to day 1) on it. Then look up who manufactured the hard drive and download their diagnostic software and see if or what errors come up.

I'm not that computer savvy enough to do that. If I have problems, I take it to the shop.

I don't think they should even think about doing as you suggested.

Is the OP running this computer on the same electrical circuit/outlet in the house?

Yes, I'm running the computer on the same outlet, and really don't have another one to use.

And it just shut down/restarted itself again. I guess I'll have to buy a new one, and have another place transfer my files without cloning the hard drive.
