Hello-

I would imagine that right after Christmas would be a good time to purchase electronics, with stores finding themselves overstocked, but I could be wrong about this? If I'm shopping for a home laptop, nice but nothing fancy, am I correct in thinking January is a good time?

Thx...

The best deals can usually be had about a week before Christmas, so NOW. If you wait to the day before you may not find great deals.

Jan-Mar when stores are trying to get rid of old stock (including open box/returns) as the graduation stock is coming in.

IMO: you can always find a decent deal. There really is no "best time". Don't wait 3 months to save $30...

There is a "best time" but its dependent on the retailer. BestBuy never has a "best time", but stores like Staples does.

I agree. I remember several years ago Staples had some very good Black Friday deals on laptops. Best Buy seems to always have computers "on sale" all year long.

Traditionally July-August back to school (aka college) sales are when the best prices are found. I don't think January is traditionally a good time to buy a laptop.

However Intel is releasing it's new Broadwell-U CPU line during CES 2015 which is January 6-9. So between now and the end of January i would think there would be price drops on the outgoing laptops based on the Haswell-U line.

Note: Haswell-U CPU's have a model number of 4xxxU. Broadwell-U CPU's will probably have model numbers of 5xxxU.

Mid November is the best time to get the lowest prices on lenovo computers.... Including thinkpads.

I've noticed that apple tends to have great back to school promotions. But I've only observed this for three years.
