Christmas came late this year... been thinking about it for a few weeks and decided to go ahead and pull the trigger.
I bought a 13" 1.3ghz i5 4GB 128GB SSD MacBook Air in August 2013 as my first ever Apple computer... and it's been great but after getting an iPad Air 2 a few months back I wanted more power and retina display.
Yesterday I bought a 15" 2.2ghz i7 16GB 256GB SSD MacBook Pro.
$1999.99.... then....
A $100 sale discount plus a $190.00 mover's coupon 10% discount. I didn't think the coupon would work due to the fact the fine print on Best Buy website said Apple computers were excluded... but the store manager didn't mention anything about it and gave me the discount.
$290 off!
The machine is incredible... the screen real estate... retina display... and just pure speed is amazing. I used Apple's data migration tool to copy my data over and when finished the Pro had rebooted and was back on the desktop before the Air had even shut down. The 256GB SSD is nice... I don't miss HDD at all. Storage isn't a huge issue for me, I have a 2TB 802.11ac Time Capsule.
One of the great things about Apple is resale value... I'll get $500-$600 for my Air... over 50% of what I paid for it. If you are in the market for a new laptop you can't go wrong with the Pro. Yeah I know it's expensive but you get what you pay for...
Nice. I have MBP Retina 15" w/ i7, 16GB RAM (October 2013). It works well. I'm going to replace it with Intel's next CPU revision.

I had thought about waiting on this one, but I'm not the patient type. That being said and the fact I saved some cash on this one had me going ahead and getting one now.
No buyer's remorse at all... I got a killer machine at a great price and man... it blows the MB Air out of the water.
So THIS is what an i7 quad core processor can do! I love it! LOL

Nice. Got the similar model (albeit 2.5Ghz and 512SSD). And a great price of free ;-).
Of course, I don't actually own it as my employer does. But hey, I use it like it's mine. This was actually my first system with a SSD. And it's amazing what a difference that makes. I was always skeptical - but no more.
And holy IRS batman - is that a 9.5% tax? I guess I'll have to stop complaining about my state...

Yeah it's a 9.5% tax... If I was just a bit closer to Oregon I'd probably buy all my stuff there for the lack of a sales tax... but it all evens out at the end of the year when I file my federal taxes and get to skip the state tax section.
Yeah the SSD is definitely all that plus the bag of chips. 256 GB SSD is plenty for me... I ran for over year with just a 128GB on my Air... because I have 2TB on my Time Capsule.
