Linda, this is what I was thinking, but I wasn't sure if everyone's information is secure. I trust my grand daughter without question, but I would like for us both to maintain our sense of privacy while sharing the connection.

I have never "shared" before. My children were grown before I started using a computer
Like others have indicated, you just need to provide three pieces of information:

1 - The name of your network (SSID) and the password. Unless you specifically turned of the broadcasting of this, she should be able to see it when searching for networks to connect to.

2 - The type of encryption you are using - this is normally WPA2 Personal (using a pre-shared key, or PSK).

3 - The password for the network.

As for security - The two of you will be fine from a practical sense.

... unless she works as a network security analyzer she could use programs like ethereal/wireshark/airsnort/... to eavesdrop on you.
