This happens when it's in hibernation or sleep mode. It woke me up again, turning on spontaneously. I live alone, have no pets, nothing fell on the mouse or keyboard that would cause it to come awake. It just does this. This computer has always done this the past few years I've had it. And I am the original owner. Why does it do this?

Is it the same exact time every night? Probably doing a virus update/scan, check the schedule. I specifically have tasks that run at night that wake the computer.

If it's in sleep mode, check to make sure your computer isn't also set to go into a hibernation at a later time. If it's already in hibernation mode, then it very well could be something you've scheduled to happen at certain time of the night. But in my experience, I've only ever had that happen in sleep mode and not hibernation mode.

Others have answered this, but it reminds me of something that was going on in my house.

My son actually shut his PC all the way down before bed at night, yet it was always on in the morning. I had no idea what could be doing this. Turns out, and we caught him in the act, our cat was jumping on top of the tower and pushing the power button on top of the machine.

Now I have him shut it down, wait until it's powered down completely, and then flip the switch on the power supply so we KNOW it's off for the night! I don't think there's any harm in doing this (so long as it's powered completely down first)...anyone know any reason why we shouldn't?

And, how is your cat supposed to buy catfood from Amazon and play World of Warcraft?
I will be informing https://www.hsppr.org/ of your disgusting cruelty.
