As said before,a dummy with computer.I managed to figure out Me & XP.I still use XP which I like a whole lot better than Win 7 with IE 11 has way more junk than I want or need.
My problem is I cannot figure out how to send Email,I tried by following instruction's in Win 7 book.
I place email address, compose message, click on send, comes back with error, say's cannot find server.

I click on mail ichon, lower right bottom corner, says connecting checking email and than working on line.I do receive fine.
I do this when I access Windows Live.
Your help is appreciated.

not sure what email client you are using but a quick duckduckgo search returned the following:
Windows LIVE : Incoming and Outgoing Mail Servers - Microsoft Community
Quote:
*** POP3 server: pop3.live.com (port 995)
*** SMTP server: smtp.live.com (port 25)
go into the settings of whatever program you are using and enter in these settings in the appropriate places.

what program are you using ?

I use mozilla thunderbird and for my comcast account I would have to put the server information somewhere in the incoming/outgoing account options menu.

I have dial up,Mozilla Firefox,Win 7,IE 11, Window live.
Looking at XP Email account settings; Outgoing SMPT 587
Incoming Pop-3 110
My error says server error SMPT Port 25
I do not know how on Win 7 to pull up Email account settings for Windows Live?
Win 7 is a pain compared to XP,XP very simple for me,
Win 7 to many do-dads!!!
Thank you for help.

n/a posts
Go here: How do I add an account to Windows Live Mail? - Windows Help

Since you can receive but not send, the problem is likely just that your outgoing SMTP server info is wrong.

confused: your original post says you are using win-xp ?

sorry, I am a fedora linux user and didn't realize that windows live is an actual program (thought it was just an email service).

you say that the server settings are ok but the port you reference in your latest post is different from my first response.

My original post say's XP & Win7,Window Live is Email,JasonF was on the money,I could not figure out how to open application,I had to change outgoing smpt to 587 from 25,I got it back from computer repair this way after paying for service. This window is the same as XP.
My post above JasonF explains this problem.
I might have a gremlin in my Win 7,making this change,I have used this computer since July o'k until now but
thanks to JasonF I will know how to change it next time.
This is why the forum is nice.
