I had just gotten rid of the old "Get Windows 10" malware from Microsoft (update KB3035583), and now a few month later, they've done it again. The "Get Windows 10" icon is back in my taskbar!!! I checked the list of updates, and KB3035583 is nowhere to be found....as it shouldn't since I had blocked it. However, I don't know what the file number of this new malware is. Does anyone know so I can block it as well?

I had deleted that update and then hidden it when it came back on the next check for updates, then a few days ago the same darn update installed and again I had to delete it and then hide it again. There has to be something in windows 10 that will make more money for Microsoft or make users buy more of their products, for them to keep pushing it so hard.

When I tried to find that update the second time I had to go to control panel and uninstall programs, then I had to go to installed updates and then typed in KB3035583 on the top right and found it that way.

You're talking about the old malware. They have a new one now, and the number isn't KB3035583. That one no longer appears. I'm looking for the NEW FILE.

As a software developer, it's actually very expensive to support old versions of software, so it's far less expensive for them to get as many people as possible on the newest version.

That said, as more people move to Windows 8+ they start to buy apps from Windows App store, and MS makes a cut of every app sold, so that's probably as much of a motivator as anything else.

This is not answering the question. You are completely off topic.

Is it affecting the functionality of your computer? Using any resources? Being obtrusive? No? Then ignore it (and its hardly "malware").

I too had uninstalled KB3035583 about a month ago. Checking my seldom used Win 7 PC just now, I see it downloaded on 7/13/2015, and installed itself just now when I started PC for first time since then. ISTM when I authorized that batch of upgrades, the notes said nothing about Win 10, just "a needed upgrade to Win 7".

Oh well, de-installing it again as I type.

But are you finding KB3035583 again in your list of installed updates? Mine doesn't show that file number, which makes me conclude that it is installed under a different file number this time around.

Yes.....it IS malware. It loaded unwanted advertising on to my computer. That is certainly one of the classes of malware.
