Peregrine, thanks for the link. It describes the hard shut down/reboot procedure for the Surface Pro. I've had to do it twice in the past year after a lockup. Thank goodness we can do that.
Not like the days where you'd pull the plug and remove the battery!

I forgot tom mention one of the strange things on my surface. I set up updates to notify me regarding scheduling a restart. It does not. Instead my touch pad gets wonky. Since a reboot fixes most ills, I reboot, and every time there has been an upgrade pending.

Go figure.

A Surface or a Surface Pro as they are two different machines?

I took back the keyboard and exchanged it for another. Does anyone know if when they are separated if that could be the reason my main screen went wacky~? The tiles were LARGE and on the top where before it was small and at the bottom. It took a few days plus and it straightened out on its own.

Itn probably went wacky because it switches to tablet mode when you disconnect (or fold back on my Pro 3) the keyboard. You might want to play around with the settings under system-tablet, such as touch friendly and what to do.
