Default Windows 10

Are you going to update to windows 10?
Tomorrow is the deadline for a free win 10 update.
Later it will cost $ 99 to update.
I am hesitant, I have win 8.1

I will not. I'm pleased with Windows 7. If, in the future, I decide to upgrade those netbooks, I'm just stick a Linux variant on them, probably my standard Xubuntu setup.

:sigh: that's what happens when you post something not directly related to the post topic.

I just upgraded to Windows 10 from 8.1. It's a better version of 8.1. and not that big of a change from 8.1.

Going from Windows 7 to 10 is a big change in the user experience so I'd only recommend that for those who know about and like Windows 10 (or 8.1).

I am an IT Professional and can say with certainty that it is never a good idea to upgrade an OS. I would never do it, even if it's free. All of you issues, registry entries and problems come right into the new OS. PLus, MS doesn't give a crap if you are using old ospftware that worked with Windows 7 and no longer will run under 10. How about all,of the printers and scanners that do not even have Win 10 drivers? Sure, we all must move on eventually but their attempt to ram it down everones throat without regard to any of the issues I mentioned, is ridiculous.

I'll simply pay for it when I build my next PC.

Does not compute ... (a statement I remember from a very long time ago)

Uhmmm ... so when you do build your next one, does that mean all your software then works and all your printer drivers are there ?

Also:
it is never a good idea to upgrade an OS.
Did you never see anybody upgrade from XP to Win7 ?

I think upgrading is not the problem.
Having them *force* it on you might be ...

So the deadline is 11:59 PM tomorrow, then for the free upgrade to Windows 10, then?
