Here's an interesting article. In a nutshell, it says you can upgrade to Windows 10 now and as soon as it's on, you can replace it with another OS (like Windows 7, Ubuntu, etc.) if that's what you want to do, and your pc is covered for Windows 10 forever. So if you want Windows 10 at a later time, it won't cost you anything later because it's already been "certified" by Microsoft.
And that reminds me that on this pc, I once installed Windows 10, then I replaced it with Windows 7 and finally installed Ubuntu side-by-side with Windows 7. So I guess that technically I am covered for Windows 10. I wonder if there is any way to check on that..... not that I'm overly concerned since I am very satisfied with Ubuntu. Just curious.
I have a 6 year old asus notebook with a single core celeron, 2GB memory, slow as can be with Win7, but good enough for browsing and email. Upgraded as an experiment, since I do not regularly use the machine. Upgrade took several hours, but when it was finished, it ran fine, maybe even a bit faster.
Help an old man, please. If I installed Windows 10 back in April and then uninstalled I can reinstall free at any time?
That's what the article says. If someone has a different opinion, please let us know.

Once your PC is eligible, it’s always eligible–you can reinstall Windows 10 from scratch and it’ll automatically activate, without you even entering a product key. You can even install a different operating system–like Windows 7 or Linux–and reinstall Windows 10 later, fully activated and genuine.
I hope it is the last day and not extended. I'm getting tired of researching every update to check if there's another hidden get win 10 scheme and I can go back to auto update.
