If it was up to me, I'd still be using Win98 and Netscape. I'm 71.

But it's not up to me.

Two years ago I built my own computer. Figured it all out, bought all the parts, bought my own copy of Win7 64 bit, and built in all the stuff I use and none of the stuff I don't.

It was a great adventure! My computer works great and has a backup hard drive built right in. It should be good for years to come and if it ever crashes I have everything I need to get it cooking again.

Glad to hear everyone loves Win10, and I will probably switch in due time.
But not soon.

You mean I shouldn't use Windows 3.11 anymore? And I finally got my modem to dial up AOL at 9600 baud too.

Windows 8 was quite a change and I still hate it. When I bought it, I couldn't run my almost new printer. I still can't print from a web page. I wouldn't upgrade any higher than 7, unless they put a gun to your head.

I am sticking to Windows7 and Office 2007 and Firefox indefinitely. I have had no problems with the computer in seven years.

My mobile devices are all Android and I use Chrome exclusively on those.

My Windows Surface crapped out two weeks ago after ONLY three years of fairly limited use and I am switching over to a Chromebook. I received it as a retirement gift and never learned to love it. I was not unhappy to see it go as it was one of the worst engineered computer device I've used.

I got fed up with the Windows world about ten years ago for various reasons. Decided Mr. Gates has enough of my money and went to Linux on all my computers, (a I have a lot of them, being a technogeek in the space industry). Since then, I was 'pulled, kicking and screaming' by my work associates into the Mac world and today, wonder why I resisted for so long. Their hardware is more expensive, but easy to operate once you get used to the new paradigm and fairly secure against viruses and other undesirables.

LOVE Windows 8.1 and was told to NOT upgrade to 10, so I won't.

This laptop will probably be my last.
We use the tablets for just about everything now!

Nope, you do not have to pay to play.
You can choose to pay to remove the occasional ad.

I do high tech for a living. I finally moved off WinXP Pro 3 1/2 years ago. I had a Win 7 laptop that died last March and I've been on Win 10 since.

The amazing thing to me is how prices have dropped on laptops that have the capabilities I need to do my job. A $1,000 laptop is just fine. 8 or 9 years ago, that was a $3,000 laptop.

For those of us who just surf the internet, or throw together a spreadsheet or word document, that price probably drops to $500-600 these days.
