The best deals at Best Buy are hidden like this one. It's not in their "Deal of the Day" nor "Hottest Deals" nor anything like those. The only way most people would become aware of it is via a posting like yours.

I'd get a 1060 because it still powerful enough and only 120 Watts. So I can run a desktop over solar power. I plan to put one into an Asus ROG that has 12V inputs. It's a gamble to test if it won't blow up though, so I'm scared of risking this. I don't know the exact 12V tolerance of the Asus Power Supply into the desktop, - that's why. Might blowup my $800 new desktop. So maybe I'll just be safe and run an invertor.

I believe you are right. I think I'll buy a 1060 after all. cheaper than buying a whole new system

FWIW - the card is only available IN STORE.
No mail orders.
Site will not divulge which other stores may have it.
If you do luck out and are in close proximity (under 250 miles), you should grab it.
No one else is selling that model anywhere close to that price.
>sigh<

A 980 is fine for VR. Not sure why you would say it isn't.
It was the first certified for VR.
