I just got a tablet for my 9 year old daughter. I am trying to add a new restricted account to an account I already have and what directions I have found don't even come remotely close to what it involves. It isn't even in the same planet of accuracy, not even the slightest.

I have searched YouTube and everything in this world and there is NOTHING that comes close to giving me what I need to be able to figure out how to do this.

I don't want to add a new "primary" account, I want to add a new "junior" account to one I already have, and I want to do this at my PC in the browser, I DO NOT want to add this new user within the tablet itself. I cannot even BEGIN to figure out how to do this.

Somebody please help, I'm about to take the tablet back and call the whole thing off.

I have never heard of restricted accounts within Gmail. What exactly are you looking to do? My 5 year old has her own Google account. There is no credit card attached to her account so I don't have to worry about her purchasing anything.

There was an article about making a tablet child-friendly where it said the best way to do all of this was to add a restricted account onto your current account, make it "subordinate" to your main account as a "junior" account of sorts. I saw directions as to how to do that, and I was doing exactly as it said, but I was seeing NOTHING there to where I could do it.

I then later saw where it said some manufacturers don't have that ability enabled and said the best way otherwise was to enable parental controls in Google Play (you can lock that setting with a separate PIN) and then to add the "Dinnertime Plus" app, their favorite 3rd party application for parental controls. I did that and so far it's been OK. (I also was concerned because I couldn't get rid of the Google search bar, it was "persistent," so I replaced the "stock" launcher with Nova, as Nova among other things lets you remove the Google search bar.)

Go into the Google Play store and download AppLock. This will allow you to set a passcode for any apps you want to lock on the tablet. You can even lock the tablet settings menu.

What is the tablet's operating system? Android, iOS, Windows, something else? Tell us that and maybe we can further assist you.
