I can flick the wheel and it spins free enough that it will scroll for quite a while.
The Logitech MX series mice have a shift feature. Regular slow scrolling has the indents (or can be turned off, but I prefer the indents), and as soon as you spin the wheel it unlocks to free spin.

I purchased an MX Revolution in '05 or '06 when they first came out, and have had one of this series ever since (currently using an MX Master). They generally sell for $75 to $100, but are so worth it.

I guess I jinxed myself, mouse button started with the double click thing. I had fixed that previously on another mouse but I think I got the spring too bent out of shape this time.

In any event just bought a MX Master, liking it lot. It's really big and I do have big hands. New to me is scroll wheel near the thumb for side scrolling. It also has onboard rechargeable batteries.

The logitechs often have buttons on the side by the thumb. The one I have now has two and the wheel is also a button that can be depressed. You can assign them to anything you want.

I got a logitech M557 bluetooth mouse and I like having the USB port freed up. Bluetooth uses more power but I have rechargeable batteries
