My Toshiba Satellite, quad-core, recently crashed and burned......that thing was junky-junk from the
get-go.

I bought a older Dell Inspiron, dual-core, off of Craigslist for 120 bucks. Even though this thing is older...it is twice the computer of my Toshiba. I have 8-gigs of ram and a static-drive....this is probably the best laptop I have ever owned.

I've had half a dozen Dell laptops and tablets, and they were all great devices, but their tech support is bad and their customer service is truly horrific. I'll never buy another.

Did you try the Dell support-page, it has quite an impressive online diagnostic-utility.

I'm fairly computer-savvy for a non-IT person, and I don't call support until I've invested a lot of time using any resources I can find online. And this doesn't address Dell's customer service issues related to things like double billing, shipping to the wrong address, lost orders, phone queues, hold times, and other things designed solely to aggravate customers. I've found HP and Lenovo a lot easier to deal with.
